A Friend (Rondeau)

Someone close when there are none near,
When all my neighbors disappear,
There is but one who stays so close,
To help with struggles that I chose—
For where I go, he also goes.

When I see blurry, he see clear.
When I am scared, he has no fear.
He makes so high my ever lows;
I have a friend.

I keep him close, ever so dear.
And to his voice I’ll always hear.
Even as precious as a rose,
He keeps me safe from all my foes.

He is my friend.
